This blog offers images, text, questions, and other forms of inquiry and discovery as a way in which our friends might learn about the fascinating African country of Swaziland. The study of material culture, that is, anything made or shaped by humans, is our chosen method of investigation. And, because James will be with us this time around, it is also about human evolution.

Didn't know you could dance, James! Nice picture of you two together. Looks like you are having a good time. Was it some sort of "special" festival or do the Swazi's just like to dance and celebrate?
Another good question from the mother of these two crackers. Mantenga Cultural Village is close to the museum and actually part of the SNTC (the Swaziland National Trust Commission) whom we work for. They put on these dances everyday for visitors...though Twana says that Swazis still love to dance, especially at weddings, social occasions, etc...We´ll have to post pics of their high kicks = both the men and women kick over their head during these dances.
